What's Realistic Expectations?
When it comes to plastic surgery, it is often important for our plastic surgeons to ensure that “realistic expectations” are met. Unlike other types of surgeries, the decision to undergo plastic surgery is deeply personal and strictly voluntary. For this reason, it’s important for our surgeons to understand the whys of getting plastic surgery in addition to all of the factors that need to be met. We set realistic expectation upon the first consultation so you don’t go into surgery expecting to come out of it with different, more dramatic results.
Treading the Fine Line
The best example of “unrealistic expectations” in plastic surgery can be seen in some of the most recent celebrity plastic surgeries. One of the most famous examples of unrealistic expectation is Heidi Montag. Heidi famously went under the knife in January 2010 to have ten surgeries completed, including breast augmentation, mini brow lift, buttock augmentation, and liposuction on waist, hips, inner and outer thighs. It raised a lot of questions of the fine line between realistic and unrealistic expectations of plastic surgery. Many commentators were asking the question, “Is this a human anymore?” She was almost famously quoted as saying that her breast augmentation wasn’t enough, she wanted to go to a “Size H for Heidi.”
Developing Realistic Expectations
One of the best ways to keep grounded when you decide to have plastic surgery is to only work with reputable plastic surgeons, like the board-certified surgeons at Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery. Our team of surgeons will help you decide which surgeries are right for you and will never agree to any enhancement they are uncomfortable with. To be realistic about your surgery means that you understand plastic surgery can only improve, not perfect, your looks. Our surgeons will only work with patients that they feel have accepted that concept and will be satisfied with their results.
