Permanent makeup is a form of cosmetic tattooing that will leave you looking naturally enhanced at all times. Permanent makeup refers to the art and science of applying pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. Cosmetic tattooing can help women and men of all ages who want to look their best at all times, anyone with sensitive skin or a makeup allergy, an active lifestyle, or someone who just wants to save time by making their morning routine a lot faster. Cosmetic tattooing can also help anyone who have vision trouble or difficulty applying makeup after a stroke or other physical problem that prevents them from applying their makeup easily.
There are two different techniques used for applying permanent makeup: machine method (traditional technique) and hand method. The Softap® Hand Method began in 1988 and has earned the reputation of being the "The Most Natural Look in Permanent Cosmetics." The technique provides maximum comfort, faster healing than the traditional method and gives the most natural results. With the Softap hand method, the technician has complete control, there is no machine noise and all supplies are 100% disposable. At Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery in Northeast Florida, permanent makeup is performed by one of our certified permanent makeup artists. Chris Weber uses the traditional machine method at our Ponte Vedra location and Alison Kuzoian performs the Softap® Hand Method at our Nocatee location.
- Eyebrows: Using the advanced microblading technique, you can have full, even eyebrows that look more natural than an eyebrow pencil.
- Eyeliner (upper and lower): It can be difficult to get a perfect line on one eye and then match the other eye, so permanent eyeliner on the upper eyelid and/or lower eyelid can save you a lot of time and frustration.
- Lip Liner: If the edges of your lip blur into the surrounding skin, permanent lip liner can create a defined border that enhances the shape of your lips and stops lipstick from bleeding or feathering.
- Full Lips: To boost pale lips or ensure that your signature lip color is always ready, full lip cosmetic tattooing can look great alone or be changed with lipstick.
Microblading (also known as eyebrow embroidery, feathering, or etching) is a relatively new, manual method that has gained a loyal following. As the name suggests, microblading uses a very small blade to deposit pigment under the skin, giving the appearance of hair. It is considered to be semi-permanent, as compared to the traditional hair stroke techniques. This method is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows. The results are natural looking, hair-like strokes, regardless of the amount of natural hair present. Initially, the brows appear darker, but fade significantly over a two-week period. It is absolutely crucial to have a touch up done, as it is very difficult to predict how well the skin will retain the pigment. The results can last anywhere from 11 - 18 months, depending on different factors affecting the procedure. However, a touch up once a year is recommended to retain the shape and saturation of pigment.
What to Expect@headingTag>
On the day of your first appointment please expect for it to be approximately 2 hours. This is a very thorough appointment during which you and Alison will design a customized treatment plan specific to your personal style. When doing microblading on eyebrows, the first step is to take a photo and decide on color. An experienced technician is able to select the right color to match the existing hairs (if any) as well as one to compliment your skin tone. Alison will apply the chosen color onto the eyebrows to let you try on your color to understand what your final results will look like. Once the color selection is made, your brows will be drawn on. You are then able to see exactly what the brows will look like before implantation is started. This is a process that will allow you and Alison to create the exact shape, symmetry and style you are seeking. The procedure will start with you laying back on a spa table while listening to soft relaxing music and takes about an hour. The implements we use are 100% disposable and a one-time use with NO RISK of cross contamination.
Permanent Makeup FAQs@headingTag>
Is It Painful?@headingTag>
A topical cream is applied for all procedures to maximize comfort. It is not uncommon for a client to fall asleep during the procedure. If you know you have an extremely low pain tolerance other methods are available to add additional comfort.
Is Is Really Permanent?@headingTag>
No, permanent makeup isn’t really permanent. Although we use the finest permanent makeup products/pigments and they will soften/fade in color over time, typically 1-5 years. The environmental exposure, anti-aging creams, sun exposure, sweating, tanning beds, and natural aging all contribute to color fading. It is recommended to get color boosts to freshen up your permanent makeup to maintain its natural look. Remember your typical tattoo is done with ink, while permanent makeup is done with pigment which is very different. The fading can be beneficial for you, if you realize that the colors and look you loved at 35 isn’t what you want at 50.
Total recovery time is usually 7-10 days. You may experience puffiness or swelling for the first 1-3 days. You will be instructed to keep ointment on the treated areas during that time. Although you may not choose to, some patients return to work the same day.
Permanent Makeup Reviews
"Alison Kuzoian is wonderful. I had not had eyebrows for 10 years and had given up all hope of once again having full beautiful eyebrows.. Microblading is amazing when you are lucky enough to find a talented and caring anesthetician. Alison spent 40 minutes with me just drawing my brows so we both were pleased with the look. People are not sure what changed but everyone and especially my husband love the way I look. When you are 67 and people are telling you how young you look you know you found another PVPS jewel. Every Dr, nurse, anesthetician, office personl that I have had the pleasure to consult with have always shown what caring and result driven procedures are what they deliver. If you do not know how wonderful the procedure is ask Alison for my before and after results."- L.S. / Office Visit / Nov 07, 2016
