A native of Houston, Texas, Dr. Mitchell pursued his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin, earning a degree in biomedical engineering. His journey into medicine continued at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Mitchell's residency in plastic surgery was completed at both the University of Tennessee and Indiana University where he received comprehensive training in all areas of plastic surgery, including complex reconstruction, aesthetic surgery, and pediatric plastic surgery. His dedication to aesthetic surgery led him to seek further specialization, culminating in an advanced aesthetic surgery fellowship here at Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Mitchell is a passionate cyclist and a dedicated, albeit less avid, runner. He has participated in numerous bike races, triathlons, and marathons. He and his wife are the proud parents of three children.
