What is the PVPS Fellowship?

The PVPS Fellowship provides a well-rounded education from head to toe which will include ample time in our on-site operating rooms as well as exposure in the clinic and the medical spa. Our fellow will have the opportunity to work alongside each member of our team and independently. They will also participate in journal clubs and research projects as well as attend local and national conferences.

PVPS is committed to an engaging and educational experience to help prepare our fellow to be self-confident in all aspects of aesthetic surgery!

Dr. Abby Threet

Our 2024-2025 new PVPS fellow Dr. Abby Threet

Born and raised in Florence, Alabama, Dr. Abby Threet has dedicated her life to the field of plastic surgery, bringing compassion and expertise to her practice. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Spanish from Auburn University in 2013, she pursued her passion for medicine at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where she obtained her Medical Degree in 2018.

Dr. Threet completed an extensive 6-year integrated plastic surgery residency at the University of South Florida, where she received comprehensive training in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery, including aesthetic surgery, complex oncologic reconstruction, microsurgery, oculoplastic surgery, hand surgery, pediatric craniofacial surgery, gender affirming care, burn surgery, wound care and multidisciplinary lymphedema care.

Her residency, where she performed nearly 4,000 surgeries under the mentorship of esteemed surgeons, included a significant focus on trauma reconstruction at Tampa General Hospital, the largest level one trauma center in West Central Florida.

Currently, Dr. Threet is advancing her expertise through the prestigious Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery Fellowship, endorsed by the Aesthetic Society, set to complete in June 2025. She has
already made notable strides in her career, successfully passing the American Board of Plastic Surgery written exam in May 2024, and is recognized as a Board Eligible Surgeon.

Passionate about her work and dedicated to exceptional patient care, Dr. Threet is known for her meticulous attention to detail and outstanding technical skills in the operating room. Outside
of her professional activities, she enjoys rollerblading, practicing yoga, traveling, live music, and spending quality time with friends and family. Dr. Threet loves living in the Ponte Vedra Beach area and is enthusiastic about providing individualized care to her patients, helping them achieve their aesthetic goals while ensuring their comfort and satisfaction.

Meet Fellowship Co-Director Dr. Christopher Bates

Dr. Bates has had the honor of practicing plastic surgery on all three coasts. He utilizes the different ideas and techniques that he’s learned along the way to bring the most up-to-date, state-of-the-art, and — most importantly — safe plastic surgery to his patients.

"I was fortunate enough to match into an aesthetic plastic surgery fellowship under the direction of a former president of The Aesthetic Society (formerly the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery). During that time, I not only honed in on my surgical skills but also learned invaluable lessons in clinical patient care and running a private practice. Here at PVPS, we not only have six surgeons for the fellow to work side-by-side with, but also an extensive staff (including advanced practice providers, business management, and medical billing) with endless resources to help educate the fellow in all aspects of aesthetic plastic surgery. It is our way of giving back and advocating for extensively trained, fellowship-educated, aesthetic plastic surgeons."
