Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery is proud to be on the forefront of the latest FDA approved treatment for the removal of chin-fat with the Kybella injectable. Our Board Certified Surgeons and Nurse Practitioners are among the first in the Jacksonville area to be trained to inject this revolutionary product. Kybella is an FDA approved prescription medication that is used to improve the appearance of submental fat. Comprised of deoxycholic acid, which is a molecule that occurs naturally in the body to help digest the fat in our diets, Kybella is injected directly to the chin area to cause the destruction of fat cells. If you are looking to lessen the appearance of your double-chin, tighten up your neck line or just gain the confidence you desire when taking a photograph, Kybella may be the answer.
Our providers tailor every patient’s Kybella treatment plan to suit his or her needs. After assessing the patient’s chin, neck, and profile, your practitioner will perform a series of injections in the comfort of her on-site minor procedures room. The patient will be able to leave immediately after the procedure and resume their normal activities.
What To Expect
Patients should expect to have temporary swelling, bruising, mild pain, redness, and numbness for up to 1 week after their treatment. Results will start to appear from 1 week to 1 month after their treatment. Patients may receive up to 6 treatments at least 1 month apart until their best results appear.
Kybella Neck Lipo FAQs
Once the Kybella treatments have destroyed the fat cells in the submental area, they are permanently gone. However, patients should maintain a healthy, stable weight after the procedure to prevent weight gain in other areas.
Kybella has been approved by the FDA, scientists have performed over 20 clinical studies, and over 1,600 patients have been treated with Kybella. Patients should disclose their full medical history to their physician during their consultation, including any current medications, herbs, and supplements. Kybella is not approved for use in patients under 18 years old and should not be used outside the neck and chin area.
Kybella Vs. Liposuction?
Kybella and traditional neck liposuction are both effective and similarly priced, but Kybella does not involve surgery, general anesthesia, or a lengthy recovery. Your physician will discuss both methods during the initial consultation and help the patient determine their best treatment plan.
"I have been frustrated about a saggy neck but did not want to pursue a surgical procedure. I inquired about Kybella, but did not seem to be a good candidate because my problem was muscle tone and not fat. I met with Dr. Sternberg and decided to pursue ThermiTight since it did not require anesthesia and provided a quick recovery. When I arrived for the procedure, I have to admit I was very nervous but he and the staff (Lisa) quickly put me at ease. First and foremost, there was no pain or discomfort. I had considered taking a sedative, but it was not warranted at all. I thought my anxiety would overtake me, but ThermiTight was as easy as any injectable I have taken. My neck was numbed, and I felt only a little pressure in the areas he was treating. About 90 minutes later I was driving home and feeling fantastic. I followed his post-op instructions carefully and had no obvious swelling. No bruising! The three small insertion points were not visible that evening and a week later at my follow-up, he said all was well. I am looking forward to seeing the maximum results in the coming months. The bottom line to all is to consider ThermiTight (and Dr.Sternberg) as a viable and easy option to a surgical intervention. Thanks, doc!"- P.L. / Office Visit / Dec 19, 2016
"I had previously met with a PVPS physician a few years ago. It was ok, but I didn't move forward with the Kybella recommendation. This time I met with Dr. Burk who suggested a different procedure and we included a blepharoplasty. Excellent staff, knowledgeable and highly personable, wonderful experience, and I'm excited to do the procedure."- Anonymous / Office Visit / Sep 30, 2020
Each session of Kybella costs from $1,200 to $1,500, depending on the amount used during the treatment. After the first follow up appointment, your doctor will discuss the approximate amount of sessions that may be needed to see their best results.
